Accepting Failures With Positivity And Strength

One of life’s main lessons is that we are all bound to fail at times, no matter how hard we work or how much we resist it. The good news is we have the ability to turn failures into successes, weaknesses into strengths, by accepting the setback and retrying. Otherwise the pressure of a failure or unmet goal hampers our wellbeing. Many of us believe life is a competition, and success is essential for happiness. These misconceptions make us fear failures in life. We treat failures as enemies, rather than as teachers to learn lessons from. But it is said that when we fail, experience and learning are our rewards.

1. Don’t create guilt over mistakes or failures. Guilt leads to a feeling of I am not good enough. When you understand that you have just done wrong, you will be able to correct it or do it right the next time. But if you believe that failure means you are not good enough, it lowers your self-esteem.

2. Talk to yourself everyday to take responsibility of your thoughts and feelings. It helps you realize that your self-worth is independent of your success. You will also realize that your peace and happiness are states of being, created while working towards the goal, not a feeling to be experienced after achieving the goal.

3. Failure is unavoidable at times. Check that you had done your best. If so, accept yourself completely. Take the experience, the lessons and promise yourself to not repeat the mistake. Conserve energy by not weakening, blaming, questioning or going into guilt. Use that energy to strengthen yourself and move forward.

4. Understand that situations and people are not in your control. How you respond to them is in your control. True failure happens only if you give up, not if you are ready to re-try.

5. Set goals, plan, execute, achieve and enjoy the success. But don’t make the task or its result more important than your own physical and emotional wellbeing.

To be free from the influence of the past is to have the ability to fly forward.

Projection: There are so many things of the past that keep coming up in the mind again and again. Insead of being like birds holding on to the branches of the past; the one who looks at the clear sky gets the inspiration to move forward. To look at the clear sky means to look at the present moment and make the best use of it.

Solution: The ability to free myself from the negative influences of the past, enables me to have a vision of equality. I will then not be judging others on what my past experiences with them are. I also find myself experiencing the benefit of each and every moment. So I experience constant progress.

Ruling And Controlling The 5 Senses

Our 5 physical senses which are our organs of perception, play a vital role as we discharge responsibilities. They help us know the world. When we control and use them rightly, we experience peace and happiness. When we lose control, they start influencing our thoughts and decisions, and thereby create illusions, attachments and suffering. Each of us has the same amount of power and control over our senses. It’s all about our intent in using it. When we say it is difficult to rule over the senses, difficulty becomes a reality. We then become slaves to sense organs and deteriorate our quality of life.

1. Meditate daily to stop the wandering of mind and senses. You will experience bliss as your innate nature, and thereby go beyond the feelings that you experience through senses of sight, taste or touch.

2. Study spiritual wisdom every morning for 15 minutes to fill your mind with pure thoughts. Purity in the mind ensures purity in deeds. It’s only when the mind is weak that we give in to sensory pleasure, easily getting attracted to distractions and dependencies.

3. Use your sense organs with a consciousness that you are the ruler and controller. Gaining control over them needs to begin with your thoughts. Remind yourself - I eat only what is healthy for me…, I watch TV for ... minutes, I spend ... minutes on social media. Stick to your decision.

4. Consciously monitor your sense organs to give them the right direction. Even if they drift towards sensory pleasures like people, places and things, bring them back. Even if you fail, don’t give up.

Creating quality thoughts brings happiness and lightness.

Projection: When there is quality thinking, thoughts are not many, but each thought is special. Quality thoughts are reflected in quality words and quality actions. They reduce tiredness and carelessness as thoughts are fewer in quantity.

Solution: When I have good quality thoughts, I experience sweetness, happiness and self-respect. I am able to recognise my own greatness and move forward with lightness under all circumstances.

Resolving Conflicts in Relationships (Part 2)

During a conflict, it is good to realize that the energy that you put into the conflict will possibly be the quality of energy that you will receive in return. This is the law of reciprocity (cause and effect). On a subtle level, we radiate according to our attitude, and on a physical level, we radiate according to our behavior. What we transmit on a subtle or/and physical level will return to us in a similar way; unless the other is wiser and decides not to give us back the same negative energy, but rather to treat us in exchange with a positive attitude and pro-active behavior. That way, that person won't bring about a dependence inside us, but rather they will help us to free ourselves of our own negativity.

Often, conflict between two people happens because we do not get the result in a relationship that we want; we are stuck to getting a specific result and we allow our happiness to depend on getting it. On not getting it, we use a wrong method; we generate a conflict, we feel ourselves to be victims, we blame the other, we project our pain onto them; all of this under the belief that others - the other - is who makes us happy or unhappy. This is a false belief. When your happiness depends on your expectations being fulfilled, it is difficult to be happy in a constant way. Often expectations are disguised desires, and where there are desires there is fear - the fear of not getting what you want. When you don't get it you get unhappy and, in so doing, you keep happiness away from you. It is good to set yourself goals of peaceful relationships, but if they are not fulfilled or if these goals take time to achieve, don't lose your sense of wellbeing. Your happiness is a much more valuable treasure than the external achievement of your expectations and of those that others have of you.

True love brings success in relationships.

Projection: The one who is loving, likes to be with the others. Such a person will never try to be away even from people who are not loving towards him, but will be able to change the one who is not so loving with his own love. So the one who is loving is always successful in relationships.

Solution: Since I am a loving person, I am able to maintain this love for every person I come into contact with. Whether the other person is able to be loving or not, I find that I never lose my love because of being aware of my true nature.

Resolving Conflicts In Relationships (Part 1)

In relationships, sometimes we feel that the other person is not only a problem but also a source of conflicts. We have to be aware that there always have to be two people involved for there to be an unhappy or conflictive exchange. When we are in any conflict, it is difficult to see and understand the true causes and the real energy of the process of the conflict. The emotions that arise inside us during a conflict distract us and even blind us.

In the first place, it is important to recognize that your response in any situation of conflict is your contribution to the conflict. The process of responding to any person or situation is something that takes place in you. Nothing can make you feel anything without your permission. If you have been in conflict with someone for a time, for sure, you create fear or anger towards them, expressing thus behaviors of resistance when you communicate or relate to them. The other person is not responsible for your emotions or for your behavior.

Your experience of conflict and your contribution to the conflict begin in your consciousness and you keep them in your consciousness. It begins with your perception of the other (how you see others). If you perceive them negatively you will think negatively; you will feel negative and create a negative attitude; you will behave negatively, and so you will transmit a negative energy. You don't have to do it like that. Perception is a choice.

When there is conflict there is mental and emotional pain, even physical. Who creates that pain? You! Who creates at least half of the conflict? You! Where do you dissolve it? In your consciousness - in you. Freeing yourself of the conflict is a matter of a decision. At any moment you can decide not to be in conflict. One party has to dissolve their contribution to the conflict, even if it is temporarily, for the process of resolution to be able to begin.

The one who checks himself constantly is the one who experiences progress.

Projection: The one who keeps checking himself is also able to bring about a change in himself. Such a person takes each situation as a chance to learn something new and bring about some change for the better. So there is constant improvement in his life.

Solution: When something goes wrong, if I learn to check myself and bring about a change immediately, I will be able to experience constant progress. No situation will make me have negative feelings or make me stop, but I will be able to enjoy everything that comes my way.

Reliving The Memories Of The Past (Part 3)

Can someone without spiritual power accept the negative happenings of the past easily? Of course, there are some who easily move on and look at the present and future with a positive vision after an uncomfortable event has passed in their life. But that is only temporary and only a few are gifted with the natural ability to do that. But let us talk about the majority who do tend to become sorrowful sometimes when past events which have hurt them or reduced their happiness are mentioned. Sometimes our family members remind them to us or are remembered by us or their memories are triggered in our minds on seeing certain negative present events in our lives. In such cases, without us consciously deciding, our thoughts and feelings tend to drift into a negative mindset.

Attachment is the seed of all negative emotions. If you see any weaknesses inside the soul – all have their origins in one single negative emotion of attachment. Obviously, some people are attached to past memories more because their mind is not able to let go of what it has faced or what negative experience it went through, however long ago. The ability to let go or forget easily is brought about by the practice of soul consciousness. Also we need the practice of Supreme Soul consciousness or the remembrance of the Supreme Soul. When we souls were completely pure, we were in a state of such strong detachment that even when we left the body and took another body, we used to not experience sorrow. This is an external detachment from the physical body. Not remembering a negative past at all and a positive past excessively requires internal detachment. So, we need to become pure now by visualizing oneself as a sparkling being of light, just above the eyebrows, which is the form of the soul. Also, we can keep an hourly chart for noting the amount of time I have remained in that experience in every hour while performing actions. We need to also practice Supreme Soul consciousness every 2 hours for at least 3 minutes i.e. atleast 5-6 times a day. This means seeing oneself as a sparkling soul or energy in the Supreme Soul’s presence in the soul world and absorbing His pure energy within oneself. This is the method of becoming internally detached from what has already happened in my life – either pleasant or not so pleasant.

The method to serve is to become an embodiment of power.

Projection: Service to others is usually understood as bringing benefit to others through what I do. I have love for such service and make an attempt to do it too. But sometimes busy in such service, I find that my own self-progress is left behind.

Solution: I need to pay attention for my own self-progress by learning from everything that happens. I thus find myself improving and filling myself with power. This power spreads around and shows the right path to others, just like a lighthouse and others continue to take benefit from me.

Reliving The Memories Of The Past (Part 2)

While some people realize that remaining in the present is the ideal way of living, but sometimes in their daily life, they find it difficult in not allowing the past in influencing their present life situations. And also their way of looking at them. Also, some people say its fine not to think about the failures of the past but it is unrealistic to not think about past successes, because they are positive events. Some people are so tied up with past success stories of their lives and are so attached to them that it slowly takes the form of a type of ego. This then starts reflecting negatively in their present behaviour and relationships.

Suppose, I have been very good at my studies and I was one of the best in school and college, in excelling in my education. So, do I forget that or remember it because doing that gives me joy? When a joy out of a positive past event becomes excessive and unnecessary, the joy turns into a negative emotion of ego. It crosses the limits of pure pride or self-esteem. Speaking about past successes to each one we meet can easily be seen by others as unnecessary. Also, some people don’t prefer listening to success events of others beyond a certain point. This is because it’s very clear in these cases that the other person does not have an intention of informing only. Ask any person about how they felt after having listened to others’ success stories repeatedly and they will give you a frank opinion that it was slightly egoistic behaviour. People will always like those who mention their successes but at the same time they are humble and remain incognito in not mentioning them repeatedly. That is for speaking about past events of a positive nature. The same applies to thinking about them.

To be experienced means never to be deceived by anything.

Projection: It is normally understood that to be experienced means to gain expertise in something, or to become a master in a particular field. Such a person, who is an expert in one field might find himself totally impractical in daily situations.

Solution: Life has so many things to teach me through the various situations. I need to keep learning from all that happens. Then I'll never be surprised or cheated by any unexpected events, but will be prepared because of being experienced.

Reliving The Memories Of The Past (Part 1)

Have you ever spent a complete day thinking about events that have taken place a day or a month or a year ago? Do you know that the thinking capabilities of the mind are overused when we create thoughts of an already passed past? We forget that a positive future can be rebuilt by simply focusing on the present circumstances and doing the best in making it the best. A very common habit that each one of us holds inside us is of reopening events that have already folded in the reel of life and mixing them with the current state of affairs. We then create a negative future because our perceptions of current situations get influenced negatively by doing that.

Remaining focused on the present is sometimes seen as over-positive thinking by some and also seen as remaining disconnected from the past. The past is very much the truth of your life. So, a balance has to be made between being forward looking i.e. taking care that the past problems do not re-occur in the future. At the same time we take care that we do not worry about that. There is a fine difference between concern and worry. While remaining concerned does involve thinking about the past, on the other hand, worry means the same but there is a difference. In the case of worry, thinking exceeds the necessary thought level, crosses it and touches the unnecessary. Sometimes it even exceeds that and becomes negative. On the other hand, remaining concerned means your thoughts remain limited to positive and necessary. At the same time you take the right action to prevent the past mistakes from happening again. Also, one who is concerned and not worried while remembering the past, will use the past as a stepping stone to enter a future which is free from the influence of negative happenings of the past.

Determination is the best companion.

Projection: When things go wrong, the first reaction is of fear. Because of this, I can't put in any effort to better the situation. I start looking for a companion, a support who can provide me help. But I rarely get help from outside.

Solution: When I have to look for something to rely on, the only support I get is from my own determined thought. I need to make it my companion, not letting go of it till I succeed. This will help me overcome my fear and move towards success.

The one who is selfless is the one who is the best judge.

Projection: When I have to take a decision, either for others or myself, there is some kind of selfishness or greed involved in it. When I think only of my selfish desires, my judgement would not be accurate.

Solution: I need to be detached and see what benefit there is for each one with the choice that I am going to make. The more I think of the benefit of all, the more my judgement is accurate.
